January 2013 - 4 Days, 4 Events, 600 Visitors

600 entrepreneurs, investors, corporate leaders and policy makers from across Europe invaded ECCI and its partner venues during the first working week of January, all striving to deliver a low-carbon environmental and economic revolution. 

The Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation started 2013 with a bang, expanding on the success of 2012's entrepreneurship events programme with four events over 4 days in January 2013.

The series includes:

1. Global Strategies for Ambitious Entrepreneurs (partnering with RBS and The Prince's Trust) - an interactive workshop designed to help founders and executives from early-stage high-growth ventures succeed in the global market place. Including the key "case study" of Airbnb written and delivered by Professor Joseph B. Lassiter, Harvard Business School and talks from Scottish business success Joe Tree, Founder and CEO of Blipfoto Limited.

2. Clean Energy Entrepreneurship and Investment (partnering with Harvard Business School & Entrepreneurship Ventures Inc) - welcoming back to Scotland experts in clean energy entrepreneurship from Harvard Business School and Entrepreneurship Ventures, Inc., in partnership with insights and expertise from UK and European entrepreneurs and investors. Participation from entrepreneurs in high-growth start-ups, industry leaders and corporate executives.

3. Scotland's 2020 Climate Group Distinguished Lecture (partnering with 2020 Group) - lecture and panel discussion organised by Scotland's 2020 Climate Group with an expert panel including: Joe Lassiter, John Swinney MSP, Lady Susan Rice, Ian Marchant & Wendy Alexander.

4. Open Innovation for a Low Carbon Economy (partnering with Entrepreneurship Ventures Inc) – applying Open Innovation (a new imperative for creating and profiting from technology) to the challenge of delivering of a low carbon economy. Complex challenges require vast levels of investment and tremendous change within and across multiple industries. This challenge is not something that a single company, and indeed a single nation, can achieve alone – could Open Innovation help find a solution?

Global Strategies for Ambitious Entrepreneurs: January 8 2013, RBS Conference Centre

An interactive workshop designed to help founders and executives from early-stage high-growth ventures succeed in the global market place; and to encourage anyone considering the start-up path to explore opportunities, build their skills and get started in business.  The key "case study" during this workshop is Airbnb. Written and delivered by Professor Joseph B. Lassiter, Harvard Business School, this is the story of their journey from kitchen table, to Y-Combinator and on to global success; through building the right team with talks from Scottish business success Joe Tree, Founder and CEO of Blipfoto Limited and Kenneth P. MorseSerial Entrepreneur and Angel Investor.

Following the success of last year’s events, ECCI is again joining forces with RBS to present the world-class two-day executive programme at the RBS Business School at Gogaburn. Welcoming back to Scotland experts in clean energy entrepreneurship Harvard Business School and Entrepreneurship Ventures, Inc., in partnership with insights and expertise from UK and European entrepreneurs and investors. Participation from entrepreneurs in high-growth startups, industry leaders and executives from organisations such as SSE Ventures, ScottishPower, Scottish Equity Partners, Royal Bank of Scotland and BP Alternative Energy.
