ECCI is bringing the EU’s largest climate entrepreneurship programme, Climate-KIC, to Scotland for the first time.

We’re offering Scottish entrepreneurs the opportunity to bid for thousands of euros and dedicated support to help them take their target markets by storm through three dedicated ClimateKIC programmes between now and 2019.

Climate-KIC Accelerator

A three-stage process to get low carbon start-ups investment-ready. The first stage, Accelerator stage 1, gives fledgling companies access to up to €10,000 and a programme of expert support and events to help them translate inventions into business plans. Successful businesses can be moved through the three stages, accessing support and funding at each stage.

Why ECCI?

The strength of our innovation community here in Scotland and beyond, and our track record of sparking the connections that make great low carbon ideas happen, makes ECCI the ideal partner for Climate-KIC.

The centre will be at the heart of one of four climate-focussed innovation ‘clusters’ in the UK and Ireland supported through Climate-KIC’s programme of start-up support and innovation programmes.

The Scottish cluster will focus on emerging strengths in data innovation as well as the twin themes of rural and water innovation – although we welcome applications for the above programmes from entrepreneurs with low carbon ideas on any theme.

What is Climate-KIC?

Climate-KIC is Europe’s largest public-private innovation partnership, driving innovation in climate change through creative partnerships large and small, local and global, between the private, public and academic sectors.

Climate-KIC is one of the Knowledge and Innovation Comunities (KICs) created in 2010 by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) to bring together businesses, research centres and universities to help the creation of new companies, entrepreneurs and products and services.

Climate-KIC has developed a significant presence in UK and Ireland since 2010, supported by centres in London, Birmingham, Dublin and now Edinburgh. It plays the role of innovation engine, matching and nurturing supply and demand and adding value through each stage of the climate innovation process.

Partners bring their industry experience to the community and are connected through Climate-KIC's centres across Europe.
