The Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation is within easy walking distance of the city's main transport hubs and home to fantastic architecture, history and green space and very amenable for walking around.
It takes approximately five to fifteen minutes to walk from Edinburgh Waverley Train Station to ECCI, depending on your destination.
Plan your walking journey
To plan a walking journey, you can use the Walkit.com journey planner. This journey planner will tell you:

Cycling is a cheap, quick and healthy way to get around. There is a network of on and off road cycle routes in Edinburgh.
ECCI is located on the south side of the city centre, within easy cycling distance of the city's main transport hubs. ECCI also has shower facilities and secure bke parking on site.
Plan your bike journey
ECCI is located within a five minute cycle ride of Edinburgh Waverley Train Station.
To find out local cycle routes to ECCI, you can use the CycleStreets journey planner or the City of Edinburgh Council cycle maps. All you need to do is enter your origin and destination. The postcode of the Central Areas is:
ECCI has two secure bike stores and a number of bike stands.
The wider University also provides secure bike stores across the Central Area for visitors, staff and students.
Bike parking at Edinburgh Waverley Train Station
Sheltered bike parking with CCTV coverage is available at Edinburgh Waverley Train Station.
Buses from all over the city travel to ECCI. The University also provides a shuttle bus for staff and students between the Central Area and the King's Buildings. The majority of buses are operated by Lothian Buses.

BusTracker allows you to see up to the minute information on the bus you would like to catch and also when your bus will arrive at the bus stop. You can check online or on your phone.
BusTracker is only available for Lothian Buses and East Lothian Buses services.
Across Edinburgh City centre, with the exception of the Airlink bus, you can purchase a single adult ticket at a cost of £1.60 when you board the bus.
The correct change is required to pay for your fare when boarding the bus.
A range of day tickets, multi journey tickets and pre paid tickets are also available directly from bus operators.
One-Ticket is a season ticket for use with the different public transport operators across Edinburgh. With One-Ticket, you get 'unlimited' travel by bus and train in East Central Scotland.
Order pre-paid bus tickets - City Singles
To make it easier for staff to use the bus at work, ECCI and university staff can order books of pre-paid Lothian Bus tickets, called CitySingles.
How to order
They are available in books of 20 at a cost of £29.
CitySingles and a range of other tickets can be purchased from any Lothian Buses Travel Shop or their website.
ECCI is within easy walking distance of Edinburgh Waverley Train Station, which is Edinburgh's main train station.
Edinburgh Waverley Train Station is served by rail services to Scotland and the rest of the UK. There are various ways to plan your journey by train.

Getting from Edinburgh Waverley Train Station to the Central Area
Due to the close proximity of Edinburgh Waverley Train Station to the Central Area, you can choose to travel from the station to the University by the following modes:
- By taxi - taxis are available from Edinburgh Waverley Train Station. A one way taxi fare from the station to the Central Area will cost approximately £7.00.
There are two electric vehicles charging plugs at ECCI. Our charging points are Type 2 Fast Chargers 22kW Mode 3 compliant.
Charging plug output is 22kW (32 Amps) AC - Three Phase and they are Type 2 (EN62196-2), Mode 3 (EN61851-1) compliant.
The charging posts are "Elektromotive Electrobay 305" posts.

Visitors using the charging points should sign in at the general ECCI reception and leave their mobile phone number where possible.
City Car Club
ECCI is also the site for the UK's first City Car Club Electric Vehicle. ECCI residents and staff are entitled to one year of free membership.

ECCI does not have its own car park. There is limited on-street parking in the area. It is expensive and designed for short stays. If, however, you have a Blue Badge for disabled parking the charges are waived.
There are two car parks within walking distance of ECCI. One is in Blackfriars Street, just off the Royal Mile and the other is at St John's Hill, on the Pleasance.This list shows all city centre car parks, has links to maps for each one and realtime information about the spaces available.
