Climate Week 2017 at ECCI


ECCI, ClimateXChange and Scotland’s 2020 Climate Group are working together to present a series of events under the banner of Climate Week - a national initiative designed to raise awareness and inspire action on climate change.

All of the free events will be held at ECCI and are open to residents, including a hands-on mini-hackathon looking at communicating sustainability and low carbon more effectively, a Climate Change Bill consultation looking at the opportunities and challenges of Scotland's new Climate Change Bill, and a chance to see the Climate Ready Scotland exhibition.

Wednesday 13 - Friday 22 September / Climate Ready Scotland exhibition 

First displayed at the European Climate Change Adaptation Conference 2017, the exhibition and accompanying publications cover seven themes across Scotland’s economy, society and environment:

  • Scotland’s partnership approach to climate change adaptation

  • Biodiversity and ecosystems

  • Productivity of land and sea

  • Land use and planning Managing our assets – buildings, infrastructure and cultural heritage

  • Community resilience, health and well-being

  • Business risks, and adaptation products and services

Wednesday 13 September / Raising the Bar: Communicating sustainability & circular economy effectively

Scotland’ 2020 Group are hosting an event for communications/PR and marketing professionals (or those working in that capacity) to look at communicating sustainability and low carbon more effectively. A hands-on workshop and mini-hackathon where we’ll ask how we can deliver better comms for a real business and unlock the potential of selling sustainability. Register online.

Wednesday 20 September / Climate Change Bill consultation: Free workshop for ECCI residents

ECCI Assembly Room, 4pm. Followed by beer & pizza and a free screening of award-winning documentary Power to Change - The Energy Rebellion.

ECCI is teaming up with expert colleagues from ClimateXChange to run a Climate Change Bill consultation workshop exclusively for ECCI residents. The ambitious proposals in the Scottish Government's new Bill include setting targets based on actual emissions, increasing the 2050 target to 90% emissions reduction, and making provisions for a net-zero greenhouse gas emissions target. ECCI - the UK's most sustainable historic building - is taking part in Doors Open Day again this year, an annual event that gives member of the public free access to hundreds of fascinating buildings across Scotland, every weekend in September. Find out more.
