Innovation is at the core of all our activity. 

From supporting Scottish SME's to develop low carbon products and services, to mobilising innovation, talent and interaction in companies in the Innovation Suite, ECCI runs a range of projects and initiatives that get businesses, organisations, individuals and systems seeking out and implementing new ways of working towards a low carbon future.

Low Carbon Innovation

Supporting Scottish SME's to develop low carbon products and services

Funded by ERDF, University of Edinburgh & Edinburgh Napier University

Partners: ERDF, Edinburgh Napier University, Heriot-Watt University

Duration: May 2011 - June 2015

We support businesses to develop low carbon products and services, and partner with organisations like NHS, Transport Scotland, Scottish Enterprise, 2020 Climate Group and RBS to shape and implement all kinds of low carbon projects.

Since Dec 2010 we've had around 3000 visitors through our doors and supported approximately 100 businesses and networks to create new low carbon projects, products and services, and attract investment into Scotland.

Smart Accelerator

Accelerating the development of major smart city and sustainable island projects in Scotland, based on international good practice

Funded by ERDF and partnered with the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, Highlands & Islands Enterprise, Scottish Cities Alliance, Transport Scotland and the University of Edinburgh.

Duration: October 2013 - June 2015

This key programme for ECCI supports eight smart city, three sustainable island and five smart mobility projects.The £1.2 million programme recently announced the 16 successful projects which are receiving support until March of next year. Read on...

Low Carbon Ideas Lab

Supporting new low carbon ideas to be accelerated and integrated into existing or new business models and enterprises

ECCI believes that mobilising innovation, talent and interation in companies will accelerate our move to a sustainable, low carbon economy. We believe that innovative ideas are not restricted to only profit makingenterprises and all types of organization can and should be involved, sharing and developing new practices and products openly. 

With two intakes already accepted, we'll be recruiting again in Autumn 2015.

DHL Innovation Suite

Mobilising innovation, talent and interaction in companies to accelerate our move to a sustainable, low carbon economy

The Innovation Suite kicked into life at the end of 2013 and is now home to a number of full time residents.

ECCI's DHL innovation Suite has been up and running since the end of 2013 and is home to a number of full time residents ranging from: the nerve centre of the 2020 Climate Group - a collection of 140 individuals from 100 the largest businesses in Scotland, the Government, local authorities, universities, charities and SMEs Working together to deliver a low carbon future for Scotland through smarter collaborations and better conversations; the UK's first professional network exclusively for carbon professionals - the Association of Carbon Professionals; carbon reporting and monitoring specialists Carbon MastersHighlands & Islands Enterprises' low carbon team; community energy specialists and social enterprise Sustainable Community Energy Network; and GAIL - Green Angel Investors Ltd.
