Creative Carbon Scotland looking for new talent

17 July 2012

ECCI supported company Creative Carbon Scotland announced this week it is looking for a Carbon Manager to join the team.

Creative Carbon Scotland – a charity initiated by Festivals Edinburgh and joined by founder members the Federation of Scottish Theatre and Scottish Contemporary Art Network – is a partnership of arts organisations working to put culture at the heart of a sustainable Scotland.

The CCS vision is of a cultural sector that is a key player in shaping a sustainable Scotland through the work it makes and presents, through the way it operates and through its communication with the wider public. Their mission is to:

•          Engage the sector in actively promoting environmental sustainability and addressing climate change

•          Help the sector take a lead in shaping an environmentally sustainable Scotland

•          Help the sector run itself as environmentally sustainably as possible

Headed up by University of Edinburgh Carbon Masters graduate and former theatre boss Ben Twist, the organisation now seeks a Project Officer to run projects for CCS and cover day-to-day administration. The main role will be to help develop a framework of environmental measurement, reporting and management for the cultural sector in Scotland and deliver training and support to over 100 arts organisations across the country so that they can begin effectively measuring and reducing their carbon emissions in April 2013. Other responsibilities will include developing and managing the CCS website as a key element of CCS’ work and its main resource for the cultural sector; organising open meetings promoting sustainability in the sector; and general administration.
