ECCI seeks to appoint an organisation and / or individuals to enable the Smart Accelerator project partnership to achieve and fulfil its objectives in three areas: Academic Support, SME Support & International Exemplars.

The Smart accelerator project is an 18 Month ERDF funded project partnership supported by a partnership including Transport Scotland, the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, Highlands & Islands Enterprise, Scottish 7 Cities Alliance and the University of Edinburgh.

The aim of the project is to identify, support and accelerate the formation, packaging and financing of up to 12 Scottish project partnerships that support Scotland’s transition to a low carbon economy and society through creating smarter and more sustainable cities, communities and islands.

The purpose of each of the three briefs is to appoint an organisation and / or individuals to enable ECCI on behalf of the Smart Accelerator project partnership to achieve and fulfil the objectives of the Smart Accelerator ERDF project.

Smart Accelerator: SME Support

The smart accelerator project has to ensure that it is fully engaged with Scottish SMEs by:

• Gathering project ideas from SMEs and adding them to the long list for evaluation (completed)

• Identifying and involving SMEs when the short list of projects has been selected by informing and integrating key decision makers regarding the project priorities, the formation of a broader ‘community of practice’ around the project across the full project life-cycle

• For a small number of highly relevant SMEs who cannot afford to becoming deeply involved in the project development process buy are essential to the partnership process the will financially support the inclusion of their expertise and knowledge.

The project team has been actively engaging with Scottish SMEs and has gathered a list of contacts who are interested in assisting with the Smart Accelerator Project.

The brief requests invitations for quotations to help the ECCI team and project partners in the support and management of Scottish SMEs. Smart Accelerator will fund and integrate SMEs into the chosen projects but will also create Communities of Interest, clustering SMEs with similar expertise and target markets to encourage collaboration, foster innovation and provide structured support and information.
