ECCI launches Exec Ed in India

05 February 2013

Following the success of ECCI Skills programmes in China, ECCI will launch its first Indian programme in Mumbai later this Spring.

Green Finance: Opportunities & Challenges is a two-day world-class programme for executives, leaders and entrepreneurs striving to deliver India's low carbon economic revolution.

The programme is being delivered with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay's Interdisciplinary Program on Climate Change Studies, an organisation aimed at undertaking inter-disciplinary, problem-driven research and teaching for end-to-end analysis of Climate Change problems.

The programme is being led by ECCI Exec Director Andy Kerr; Carbon Management MSc Alumnus and CEO of Carbon Master Kevin Houston; Professor Bakul Rao, Associate Professor at the Centre for Technology Alternatives for Rural Areas (CTARA), Indian Institute of Technology Bombay; and Professor Trupti Mishra, Assistant Professor of Economics at Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay.

Takeaways include:

  • Leave with “actionable” knowledge on global clean energy developments and markets: who is investing; why; where?

  • Understand the sources of funding.

  • Navigate the clean-energy project investment processes and stages from seed, through growth and expansion.

  • Develop your venture’s readiness for investment, new or follow on.

  • Enhance your venture’s strategy for increased revenue and global sales.

This historic milestone for ECCI comes after a series of development visits to the region. ECCI has been working with local partners to develop and deliver low carbon skills training. India has had rapid economic growth after opening up its economy in 1991 and the Indian economy is expected to rise by more than 7.5 percent in calendar year 2013. India has an opportunity to ‘leapfrog’ carbon intensive technologies for better, cleaner technologies as it develops.
