Scene scoop two Rushlight Awards

31 January 2018

ECCI’s resident community energy consultants Scene picked up two prestigious Rushlight Awards this week.

Now in their 11th year, the Rushlight Awards are the environmental sector’s annual celebration of new technology, innovation and best practice.

Scene’s Indian and UK teams formed part of the double-winning SCORRES project (Smart Control of Rural Renewable Energy & Storage), which helps Indian farmers develop irrigation systems based on clean energy and storage and uses ‘smart’ ICT software which designs, forecasts and controls the crop-specific irrigation.

With pilot projects in Tamil Nadu in India, Scene’s Indian and UK teams helped design and develop the system and engage with policy makers, funders and farmers.

Scene Director Vijay Bhopal said: ”Our project is a great example of international collaboration borne from partners' mutual interest in technical and commercial innovation.

"We look forward to commercialising the technology and working together to export Scottish water and energy expertise to markets where it can have great impact.”

One of the first start-ups to be supported by ECCI, Scene is a social enterprise focused on strengthening communities through consultancy, research and development of ICT products. Scene works across the renewable energy and energy access sectors.
