FM Nicola Sturgeon pictured in Ideas Lab resident's design

First Minister and style icon Nicola Sturgeon was pictured wearing a a very special scarf on a visit to Ireland this week.

The scarf was a gift from ECCI Ideas Lab resident Karen Finlayson, whose company Colour Elements aims to reduce textile waste by promoting the concept of a lean wardrobe.

Karen said: "Building relations is easier when you look approachable and friendly so the Colour Elements scarf helped to add a shot of brighter colours to a structured suit.

"The scarves are designed and produced in Scotland and our production methods allow us to order in tiny amounts so that there is no temptation to stockpile and create waste.

"It was a real honour to meet the First Minister as part of an ECCI delegation to Hong Kong last year. I have great respect for her leadership so it was a fantastic boost to see her wearing the CE scarf on national TV. The fact that the scarf did what we promise - to put the focus on the customer, not the colours, and add dynamic energy - was also proof of concept on a national platform."
