ECCI start-ups selected for Venturefest Scotland showcase

03 July 2017

Three of ECCI’s resident start-ups have been accepted into the Innovation Showcase at national business innovation summit Venturefest Scotland this September.

IntelliDigest (founder Ifeyinwa Rita Kanu pictured above) and CloudForest, part of the Climate-KIC Accelerator programme at ECCI, and resident business Colour Elements who recently won investment at the ScottishEDGE competition, will get the chance to network and showcase their ideas at the event.

The showcase will present a selection of Scotland’s most innovative companies with ground-breaking products and services. A total of 19 companies across tech, renewable energy, life sciences, food and drink and healthcare have been selected to take part. Click here to see the full list.

In addition to the Innovation Showcase, the event programme includes:

  • Confirmed keynotes from Mandy Chessell, Master Inventor at IBM, and Ailsa Gray of Profits with Purpose
  • Stories from successful businesses of the ups and downs of growing a business
  • Interactive workshops giving entrepreneurs practical skills to innovate and grow their business
  • Free 1-2-1 appointments with business advisors, facilitated networking and a 'meet the expert' programme

Karen Finlayson, Colour Elements founder, said: “We’re really excited to be invited to be part of Venturefest. We’ve visited previous Venturefest events and have been impressed by the opportunities to collaborate with other companies and meet with potential investors.

“Our new interactive app, Chalk, will be launched this summer so Venturefest is a great opportunity to meet with customers and demonstrate the benefits of shopping sustainably through digital devices.

“I think Jim Duffy will be a star attraction as his business book was recently published and he’s known throughout the UK for his entrepreneurial insight so I’ll make sure I’m free to attend his talk.”

Ifeyinwa Kanu, Director of IntelliDigest, said: “Networking and seeking out investment opportunities are key to successful commercialisation of our product IntelliAD – so this opportunity to participate in the Innovation Showcase at Venturefest 2017 is very exciting.

CloudForest founder Hester Robertson said: “We’re really looking forward to meeting and interacting with attendees.

“We’ll be bringing our soon-to-be famously fun forestry investment game and look to explore people’s thoughts on things like the meaning of wealth, and their hopes for the future... the simple stuff!

“We're currently in the midst of designing CloudForest’s model for crowdfunded forestry and Venturefest is a great opportunity to get the views of a group of innovative people to gauge the wider range of things that people value, over and above financial returns.”

Venturefest 2017 takes places on Wednesday 20 September 2017 at the Glasgow Science Centre. Registration is free and any aspiring Scottish company from start-up through to established SME is invited to attend.
