ECCI food waste start-up selected for Pitch@Palace final

05 October 2017

An ECCI start-up who wants to revolutionise kitchen waste has been selected to take part in the final of Pitch@Palace 8.0 on Wednesday 1 November 2017.

IntelliDigest, currently taking part in the Climate-KIC Accelerator programme at ECCI, has also been shortlisted for the IET Innovation Awards in London in November 2017.

Pitch@Palace, an initiative of the Duke of York held at St James's Palace, connects entrepreneurs and early-stage businesses with potential supporters including CEOs, influencers, angels, mentors and business partners.

IntelliDigest is developing the world’s first autonomous, ultra-small scale organic waste digester, called IntelliAD. The kitchen fitted, on-site food waste digester will enable homes and small businesses to generate renewable energy from waste and produce a highly valuable bio-resource.

As part of the Pitch@Palace process, the company was invited to attend a Boot Camp where they received support and guidance on developing and honing their pitch, as well as support with investment, introductions and strategy.

IntelliDigest Director Ifeyinwa Kanu said: “Our aim is to efficiently convert all biodegradable waste into a high value resource, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting a circular economy.

“Taking part in Pitch@Palace 8.0 has been a great experience, from the application process through to an outstanding mentoring session at the Cambridge Judge Business School.

"The Boot Camp preparation and Pitch@Palace networking opportunities have offered me huge learning opportunity and the chance to make valuable new connections.”

The Climate-KIC Accelerator programme at ECCI offers Scottish climate start-ups support and funding to develop a rock-solid business plan and take their target markets by storm. IntelliDigest is one of eight fledgling companies currently taking part in Accelerator Stage 2 at the centre.

Ifeyinwa said: “ECCI offers massive learning support to low carbon entrepreneurs, great networking opportunities and office space in a world class facility.

"These opportunities are invaluable to start-ups like ours.”
