Big International Opportunities for Low Carbon Businesses
15 May 2013
ECCI was excited to read the Low Carbon Entrepreneurs: New Engines For Growth report released by Shell Springboard and the Carbon Trust this week.
According to the research, start-ups in low-carbon industries are almost twice as likely to export goods and services as their peers in other sectors and this fast-expanding community could play a major role in an export-led recovery of the economy - great news for the 100 or so businesses ECCI is supporting.
And even better that this news coincides with two major opportunities for international exposure and investment ECCI has been invited to recruit for: The UK & Ireland Tech Tour and SxSW Eco in Austin, Texas.
The UK & Ireland Tech Tour
The UK & Ireland Tech Tour will take place on September 17-20, 2013 and will introduce 25+ of the most innovative start-up technology companies (including ECCI's remit of Cleantech / Renewable energy) in the UK & Ireland regions, each with world-class aspirations and potential, to a distinguished international group of 60 privately invited senior professionals from leading venture capital funds, international technology corporations and service providers.
SxSW Eco is a three day conference and festival featuring innovative solutions for a sustainable future: http://www.sxsweco.com. An integral part of the event, the SXSW Eco Startup Showcase puts innovative green tech, clean web and social impact startups in front of a jury of industry experts made up of top venture capitalists as well as a live audience. ECCI negotiated a batch of applications worth $1000 to allocate to recommended companies.
Around 15 ECCI-supported companies have put themselves forward for these events - watch this space for updates on their progress soon.
