Smart Accelerator team at the Smart City Expo in Barcelona - 18th to 20th November

The ECCI trip included representatives from Smart Accelerator projects and the steering group

Led by Stefan Buettner, Smart Accelerator consultant for international good practice, a core team of six, including programme manager Jackie Smith, spent three very full days in Barcelona exploring the world expo for smart cities.

This trip was organised as part of the Smart Accelerator's committment to demonstrate and introduce projects to relevant international practice and context.

The Smart Accelerator actively seeks international experience and expertise in the form of good and poor practices to inform and support the development of Scottish initiatives and to assist Accelerator projects in the development of their own projects and products.

Enabling two-way knowledge exchange between projects and communities of identified relevant international practices and the selected Smart Accelerator supported projects is a key deliverable for the Smart Accelerator.

SCEWC is the preeminent expo and congress focused on the new urban technologies that are helping to manage cities more efficiently as well as the people, institutions, frameworks and processes that make cities work better. With keynotes from Parag Khanna, Alex Steffen, Kengo Kuma and Deyan Sudjic and experts, academics, project leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs and businesses from around the world, the expo and congress offered an opportunity to explore and discover numerous initiatives as well as demonstrate our own projects to a receptive audience.
