Deep-Ocean Resources and Biodiscovery (DEEPEND) Workshop

Presented by the DEEPEND project team

The DEEPEND project team will be hosting a stakeholder engagement workshop on 8th October following the High Seas Treaty Symposium.

The DEEPEND project is focussed on the study of marine genetic resources, microbiology, marine invertebrates, metabolomics and genomics from a range of deep-sea sites globally alongside capacity-building initiatives. The workshop will be an opportunity to hear about the latest scientific results and work to date as well as encourage collaboration amongst stakeholders.

The event is free and open to anyone interested in the DEEPEND project and BBNJ* discussions, but will require pre-registration.

*The “BBNJ Treaty”, also known as the “Treaty of the High Seas”, is an international agreement on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity of areas beyond national jurisdiction.

Lunch and a wine reception will be provided, please contact deependworkshop@gmail.com for more information and details on how to register.
