Stop Climate Chaos Scotland and RSGS
POSTPONED - details coming soon.
Stop Climate Chaos Scotland and Royal Geographic Society Scotland (RSGS) will be at ECCI (Conference Room) on Friday 7 June from 11.30-16:00 and are inviting anyone interested to give a 2-3 minute ‘talking head’ piece responding to the question: “Why do you feel the time is right to step up and act on climate?”.
Those interested can email katrina.strachan@rsgs.org to flag their interest in participating; or discuss sending in a pre-recorded submission. Full details and greater context can be found below…
On May 9th, Stop Climate Chaos Scotland and RSGS held a gathering at The Moderator of the Church of Scotland’s Residence, of over 30 leading individuals from across the faith, science and civic communities resetting our collective climate commitments. These individuals read prepared statements reminding people about the increasing need to tackle the climate emergency, and calling on the Scottish and UK governments to “bridge the widening gap” between promises and practical action to build a fairer, greener, healthier society for all. The signatories are led by Rt Rev Sally Foster-Fulton, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, Professor Stuart Haszeldine, Co-Director at the Edinburgh Climate Change Institute, hosted by the University of Edinburgh, and Mike Robinson Chair of Stop Climate Chaos in Scotland and Chief Executive of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society.
To continue to remind political, business and civic leaders about the importance of this issue, Stop Climate Chaos Scotland and RSGS captured a number of key voices on the day, and are keen to add to these by producing a short film for public ‘community’ release later this year. Stop Climate Chaos Scotland and RSGS would like to invite others in the climate change community in Scotland to be part of this, and to record a message to reinforce the support for more priority for climate action, and to remind leaders of the scientific and moral imperatives.
