Presented by Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI).
The first seminar in EFI's 2021 ‘Galvanised: connecting science, engineering and the arts at EFI’ seminar series. This series will identify some examples of forward-looking science and engineering, placing them alongside leading edge thinking in the humanities and social sciences.
On 29 April, EFI are delighted to be joined by Professor Sir Tom Devine and Professor Geoffrey Boulton who will be speaking to the overarching theme of ‘The changing context of science and scholarship’. There will be two talks entitled, respectively: The ‘Spanish Flu’ pandemic 1918-20, with some comparisons to Covid 2020-21 and Crisis and Science: what have we learned?
Following on from its success in early 2020, the 2021 Galvanised seminar series is organised by Dr Jane McKie, (Edinburgh Futures Institute), Dr Jean-Benoit Falisse (Edinburgh Futures Institute) and Professor Richard Morris (Edinburgh Neuroscience) involving fellow science and engineering colleagues in the University of Edinburgh and beyond.
