Our climate picks from the Hay Festival.

The Hay Festival's 34th spring edition is broadcasting for free online from Hay-on-Wye to the world 26 May–6 June. Over 12 days, more than 200 acclaimed writers, global policy makers, historians, poets, pioneers and innovators join us to inspire, examine and entertain in events for all ages. All events will be closed-captioned and available to watch for free 24 hours from their live broadcast.

Here's our top picks for climate related events:

  • FOOD AND FARMING FOR A GREENER FUTURE - Thursday 27 May 2021, 7pm – 7.50pm. How your food choices will save the planet.
  • NET ZERO: HOW WE STOP CAUSING CLIMATE CHANGE. - Friday 28 May 2021, 12pm – 12.50pm. Dieter Helm talks to Carys Roberts. Dieter Helm is Professor of Energy Policy at the University of Oxford, and Fellow in Economics at New College, Oxford.  He is in conversation with Carys Roberts, Chief Executive of the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR).
  • ICE RIVERS AND THE BRILLIANT ABYSS - Friday 28 May 2021, 5pm – 5.50pm. How do you like your water – frozen or salty? In Ice Rivers, glaciologist Jemma Wadham tells the story of frozen landscapes across the globe, explaining how they are melting at an accelerating rate. In The Brilliant Abyss, Helen Scales talks about our relationship with the deep sea, how we imagine, explore and exploit it.
