'The Oil Machine' Screening & Panel

How can we break our addiction to oil? Join Edinburgh Earth Initiative for a special screening of 'The Oil Machine' as we explore our economic, historical and emotional entanglement with fossil fuels by looking at the conflicting imperatives around North Sea oil & gas. This invisible machine at the core of our economy and society now faces an uncertain future as activists, citizens and investors demand change. Is this the end of oil?

The film brings together a wide range of voices - oil company executives and workers, economists, young activists, pension fund managers - and asks how this machine can be tamed, dismantled or repurposed.

With an expert panel discussion after the screening, featuring:

• Emma Davie, the director of The Oil Machine, and Programme Director for MA and MFA Film at Edinburgh College of Art
• Morag Watson is the Director of Policy for Scottish Renewables and co-founder of the international Sustainability Leadership Network
• Dr Kirsten E H Jenkins is a Lecturer in Energy, Environment and Society at the School of Social and Political Science and is the Programme Director for the MSc in Energy, Society and Sustainability

The film screening will happen at the Cinema Space, Edinburgh College of Art (ECA). To find the Cinema Space, enter ECA from Lauriston Place, walk to the ECA Cafe and walk straight through it, then follow the signs for the 'ECA Cinema Space'.
