Dan studies sustainability transitions: speed and direction; drivers and non-technical barriers. He is especially keen to understand public adoption/acceptance/resistance in relation to low carbon technologies in situ (e.g. household, community, landscape). Dan has >20y of research experience in deploying multi-method approaches to identify place-based synergies of environmental policies (social, environmental and economic co-benefits), in examining local and social sustainability innovations and in understanding to what extent (under what conditions) these may scale or replicate.
