Alfy’s research interests span the social and environmental interactions within food systems, with a focus on local scale interactions and trade-offs: if we focus on yield, what happens to biodiversity? If we focus on reducing emissions, how does this impact the quality of jobs? If we focus on biodiversity, how do we decide which species to prioritise?
He is based in both the Global Academy of Agriculture and Food Security (GAAFS) where he is Programme Director of the Global Agriculture and Food Security degree, and the School of Geosciences, where he mainly teaches on the Ecological and Environmental Sciences degree.
