Andy joined ECCI in 2015 in his role as Impact Coordinator for the University of Edinburgh’s School of GeoSciences, and took up the role of Deputy Director in January 2023. Andy is also an Undergraduate Fellow with the Edinburgh Futures Institute, part of the team developing and delivering the new EFI Undergraduate Programme (MA Interdisciplinary Futures) launching in September 2023.
Andy’s research has focused on methods for carbon sequestration including biochar and climate-smart agriculture, and more recently on educational development including experiential and community service learning, and interdisciplinary approaches to dealing with wicked problems.
Andy holds a PhD in forestry and climate change from the University of Edinburgh and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
