Making your research matter

Central Edinburgh

Interested in working with the public sector, policy makers and Government - some of the key priority areas for research funding and for delivering real impact?

Drawing on the work of ClimateXChange, this workshop is aimed at academic staff and students and will help you understand the impact of research, opportunities for end user engagement and the skills you need to succeed in similar policy/research environments.

ClimateXChange is Scotland’s centre of expertise on climate change, based at ECCI. It brings together researchers and policy-makers, acting as a knowledge broker between the two to create evidence-based policies for a low carbon, climate ready Scotland.

In this workshop, ClimateXChange will use their experience to discuss:

  • Why is Knowledge Exchange so important and how do you do it?
  • What is meant by ‘impact’ and how does it affect research funding?
  • How should you present your research to non-academic audiences?
  • Case Study: Dan Barlow, ClimateXChange Programme Manager and formerly Senior Researcher on climate change and resource use issues for the Scottish Parliament Information Centre.

Places are limited, so to register please email ecci.events@ed.ac.uk ASAP.
